5 Of Our Favourite Locations For Outdoor Family Photography In Ireland- Co. Wicklow
Ireland is incredible- with its epic mountain peaks, magnificent coastlines, lofty lighthouses, rich greenery and historic stone. There are so many places that I have come to know and love-and countless more for me to explore!
I am sure that you have your own pieces of heaven here in Ireland that have a special meaning to you and your family; ones that carry dear memories, where you can almost hear the giggles and you think of escaping to when life feels a bit overwhelming. My favourite place is our beach hideaway in Co. Wexford where Sharon and I first met MANY years ago. Here are some of my families favourites. I would love to hear what yours are!
1. Devils Glen Forest-Ashford
The Devils Glen Forest boasts a dramatic landscape which is ideal for a family photoshoot. The gorge affords a swift decent for the Vartry River. With hosts of a mixture of broad leafy and conifer forest with fine stands of beech, Spanish chestnut and ash. (Thank you www.coillte.ie!) The enormity of them provides a great contrast for families with children of all ages. The steep rock face of the gorge has species of plant life:lichens, mosses and the polypody fern. The soft ground within the woods is ideal for toddlers and babies who have just started walking providing a very cushioned landing!
2. Magheramore Beach
Magheramore Beach is celebrated as one of the best family beaches in County Wicklow. Tickling your feet in the turquoise blue water is a great way to spend time and have fun as a family together. The little ones love the waves coming in and jumping in the water pools left on shore. The cliffs and caves offer a chance for younger and older children to explore giving your family a chance to forget about the camera and create beautiful authentic portraits complimented by rock texture with creamy golden sand and dunes.

The Glenmacnass Waterfall is a stunning scenic location a place which I feel portrays the beauty of Ireland just perfectly. With a combination of stone, mountains, water and trees providing the most wonderful backdrop for any family. The carpark is right beside this location which makes changing outfits particularly easy.
I love photographing families in Co. Wicklow- well just about anywhere outdoors really with beautiful natural light!
